(SOUTH HURON, ON) - An Exeter man remains in custody on charges related to a break and enter that occurred at a bank in Exeter over the weekend.

On Saturday, April 4, 2020 at approximately 5:00 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to an audible alarm that was sounding at a bank located on Main Street South in Exeter. While checking on the premise officers noticed someone had forced entry into the bank through a window. Once inside the suspect rummaged through the office area and also attempted to open a safe within the building.

As a result of a neighbourhood canvass and further investigation officers were able to identify the involved suspect. Later that night police located and arrested the accused in Exeter. Upon arrest the accused became combative and resisted arrest.

Jason ELLIS, 33 years of age from Exeter has been charged with Break, Enter a Place with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence, Resist Peace Officer and six counts of Fail to Comply with a Probation Order.

He remains in custody with a video court appearance scheduled for April 7, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
