(PERTH COUNTY, ON) As we all prepare for the first long weekend of Spring, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) joins policing partners focused on keeping motorists safe during this holiday. As part of the commitment to the Provincial Traffic Safety Program, Perth OPP members will be participating in the annual Easter Weekend Traffic Campaign. The 2024 Easter Weekend Traffic Initiative will commence at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, March 29th, and end at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, April 1st.
The Easter Weekend Campaign focuses on the need to buckle up to save lives. Perth OPP members will be focusing on awareness through enforcement and public education by stopping vehicles that contain a driver and/or passengers not wearing their seatbelt.
Officers will also be looking for other unsafe driving behaviours including distracted driving, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, speeding and other forms of aggressive driving that diminish the safety of our roadways.
The safety of our roadways depends on the motorists traveling upon them. Do your part to keep yourself, your loved ones, and others safe by complying with the rules of the road.
Our members will be working to keep you safe as you celebrate this long weekend with family and friends. Please help us by doing your part. Wear your seatbelt, drive safely, and dont drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Acting Inspector David Sinko.
Editors Note: Maybe the OPP should do their part and enforce the laws every day. It is so rare that they obey or enforce traffic laws, they do a press press whenever they are about to do it.
