2 Arrested After Hit & Run Involving Pedestrian Names Released

(MIDLAND, ON) The Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged two individuals in relation to a fail-to-remain motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the Town of Midland.
On August 12, 2024, at approximately 3:40 a.m., officers from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP and emergency services responded to a report of a collision on Wellington Street involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. The involved vehicle was no longer on scene upon police arrival, and the pedestrian was transported to a Toronto-area hospital with serious injuries.
As a result of the investigation, on August 13, 2024, the following individuals were arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
Patrick MCGUIRE, 39 years old of Midland:
· Attempt to commit murder, section 239(1)(b) two counts
· Dangerous operation causing bodily harm, section 320.13(2)
· Fail to stop at accident resulting in bodily harm, section 320.16(2)
Georgia QUANBURY, 25 years old of Midland:
· Accessory after the fact to commit indictable offence, section 463(a) two counts
Both accused were held for a bail hearing and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on August 14, 2024.
The identity of the victim will be withheld, and no further details will be released at this time.
The Southern Georgian Bay OPP Major Crime Unit is conducting the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from the OPP Central Region Support Team (RST), the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team, and OPP Forensic Identification Services.
