(CARLETON PLACE, ON) The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an Ottawa resident with impaired driving.
Officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 7, east of McNeeley Avenue in Carleton Place, on Friday, March 14, 2025, just after 6:45 p.m., following receiving complaints of poor driving in the area.
The officer, while conducting a traffic investigation, arrested the driver and transported the individual to the Carleton Place Detachment for testing.
As a result of the investigation, Karol SJOLUND age 65, of Ottawa, has been charged with:
· Operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
· Operation while impaired alcohol
· Drive with open container of cannabis
· Drive with cannabis readily available to driver
· Drive with open liquor
· Drive with liquor readily available to the driver
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on April 14, 2025. The individuals drivers licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension), and vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
